Privacy
There is almost nothing here to collect.
This is a personal site. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no forms and no newsletter. Nothing you do here is tied to a name.
01 / WHAT IS MEASURED
One thing: page views, through Vercel Web Analytics. It is cookieless. It sets no cookies of any kind, first or third party, and it does not use local storage to follow you between visits.
Instead of an identifier that persists, a visitor is derived from a one-way hash of the incoming request, and only aggregate figures are kept: which pages were opened, roughly where in the world from, and on what sort of device. None of it identifies you, and none of it can be reassembled into a person.
There is no consent banner because nothing is stored on your device that would require one.
02 / WHO TOUCHES IT
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., who act as processor for hosting and delivery, and who keep ordinary server logs including IP addresses for a short period in order to serve the site and defend it from abuse. That processing may take place in the United States, under Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Their policy is at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Nobody else is involved. There are no advertising networks, no embedded social widgets, no tag managers and no third-party fonts phoning home: the typefaces are served from this domain.
03 / WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
It does not profile you, sell anything about you, share anything with data brokers, track you across other sites, or build an advertising audience. There is no cross-site identifier to build one from.
04 / WHAT IT COULD HAVE TAKEN
Everything above is a promise, which is the weakest form of a privacy policy. Here is a demonstration instead.
This page can see a surprising amount about your machine without asking permission, and without any of it being a cookie. Press the button and it will read all of it out to you.
05 / ASKING
If you want to know what is held about you, the answer is almost certainly nothing, because there is no key to look you up by. If you would like to ask anyway, or you would rather not be counted at all, write to rohit@malaviya.info. An ordinary tracker blocker will also stop the count, and I will not think less of you for it.
